PILE-UP AT A GRAIN BOUNDARY AND OVERCOMING

    Screw dislocations are piling up on a grain boundary. The boundary is shown as the red plane (a rectangular facet).
    Periodic boundary conditions are applied to the simulation box.
    The facet can be crossed by a dislocation segment provided the local shear stress exceeds a critical value leading to a continuous dislocation flow through the boundary.
