Baking contest
AlN cakes
This kind of cakes are special, because they are obtained by baking AlN by chemical vapor deposition under 1300°C on a Tungsten Carbide Cobalt (WCCo) substrate. During the experiment, cobalt reacted with H2 and Cl2 at high temperature and CoCl2 gas was formed, so AlN did not grow everywhere, and we were 'lucky' to get those delicious AlN cakes.

AlN flan
The picture shows an AlN epitaxial single crystal on sapphir having the shape of a flan after an ICP etching with chlorine.
