The laboratory is organised into four research groups focusing on fundamental science in physics and physical chemistry, thermodynamics and kinetics, solid and fluid mechanics.

Areas of research include nanosciences and materials for electronics, structural materials, solidification, materials for energy, granular materials, surfaces and interfaces, and multiscale modeling. The laboratory participates in challenges in the fields of energy, multifunctional materials, nanomaterials and sustainable development.
