Preparing for 0 G Flight: Insights from a Parabolic Flight Campaign
In this seminar, we will share practical insights from our recent parabolic flight campaign, AC Electrohydrodynamic Bubble Interface Oscillations (AEBIO). The talk will walk through the entire process, starting with CNES funding application, moving through experiment design, and concluding with preliminary observations from the flight. The core focus lies in the preparation phase. We will detail the technical and administrative challenges involved in adapting laboratory setups for flight compatibility, the iterative process of updating the experimental safety data package (ESDP), and the close collaboration with Novespace engineering team. Rather than presenting polished outcomes, this talk aims to highlight the reality of getting an experiment ready for zero-gravity flight - what went wrong, what worked, and what we would do differently next time. We hope this will serve as a practical reference for colleagues planning to participate in future campaigns.
