ANNIHILATION BETWEEN TWO SCREW DISLOCATIONS

Two screw dislocations are gliding on two parallel planes with opposite Burgers vectors. When they are close enough, the temperature allows them to cross slip.
A part of one dislocation glides on the cross-slip plane to reach the other dislocation and annihilates a part of it. This phenomenon is governed by the energy minimization of the system leading to a reduction of the dislocation length.
