Electron Beam Melting (EBM) technology allows the additive manufacturing of very complex geometries controlling the spatial distribution of matter. The architecture Ti6Al4V substrate in the picture was manufactured by the GPM2 group. It was then functionalized by an AlN thin film. The thin film was deposited by ALD method in the TOP group. It gives the green/violet color to the substrate that was originally gray. The combination of those two technologies, additive manufacturing and thin film deposition leads to the production of materials by design. This is a project in the framework of the CEMAM labex, in partnership with LMGP laboratory.
