Le refuge du bouquetin
SEM image of a fracture surface of a Zr-based metallic glass sample produced by laser fusion on a powder bed and subjected to compression. Ironically, the "refuge" is due to a lack of fusion inherited from the manufacturing process, whereas the "bouquetin", with its rounded shapes, is due to the local fusion of the material during the passage of the shear band at the origin of the fracture.

A propos de l'auteur : Observations made by Rémi Daudin (CNRS researcher) as part of Camille Pauzon's post-doc on additive manufacturing of metallic glasses.
