Orientation mapping picture of gamma' precipitates in a Ni-based superalloy elaborated by laser powder bed fusion. The precipitates have been extracted from the matrix by electrodissolution and then deposited on an amorphous carbon film before their observation in a transmission electron microscope (TEM) using the ASTAR method.

About the author: Arthur DESPRES is a post-doctoral fellow in GPM2 group. He studies Ni-based superalloy microstructures obtained by laser powder bed fusion. This project is in partnership with Aubert et Duval in order to develop new alloys for additive manufacturing.
