Amorphous metal mountains
This SEM image (SE2) is taken from the fracture surface of a metallic glass sample after uniaxial compression. Such "tormented" fracture surface is characteristic of brittle fracture. The zirconium, cobalt and aluminium base alloy has been shaped using the process developped by Vulkam startup.
Image taken with Remi Daudin.
