It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean-Charles Joud. Jean-Charles was Professor Emeritus at Grenoble-INP/Phelma and at SIMaP laboratory, a specialist in thermodynamics and physics and chemistry of surfaces. He joined the LTPCM laboratory (former SIMaP) as a PhD student, and stayed there during his whole career, first as a CNRS researcher, then as a professor of Grenoble-INP.
Alain GALERIE symposium
A symposium in honor of Professor Alain Galerie will be held July 9th, 2018 in Bangkok (Thailande). This symposium aims to honor Pr. Alain Galerie's career in Hight Temperature Corrosion, domain in which he stays one of the most recognized French figures. Pr. Alain Galerie, now retired, was a professor at Grenoble-INP and a member of SIMaP laboratory. In particular, he initiated a long term partnership with Bangkok University.
Nicolas Cardin, a third year PhD student in EPM group of SIMaP laboratory and in CETHIL laboratory (Lyon), is one of the winner of the Donald M. Ernst prize. This prize rewarded his presentation at the IHPC-IHPS joint conference describing his works on the opportunity to improve heat flat pipe performance by using electric fields.
Nicolas Cardin, a third year PhD student in EPM group of SIMaP laboratory and in CETHIL laboratory (Lyon), was awarded the second prize for the best student presentation at the µFlu'18-NEGF'18 joint conference in Stransbourg, February 28th-March 2nd 2018.
The new QS World University Rankings by subject has brought good news for Materials Science labs of Grenoble-INP such as SIMaP laboratory. Indeed, their research activities participated in maintaining Grenoble-INP in first position among French Universities and in the 51-100 range in world ranking for "Materials Science".
